Membership is the process of becoming an official part of the church body of beleivers in its various functions. There are benefits to membership. It identifies one as a serious and genuine believer (Eph. 2:19,Rom. 12:5). Membership provides a spiritual family for support and encouragement (Gal. 6:1-2, Heb. 10:24-25). Membership gives one a place to discover and use my gifts in ministry (I Corinthians 12-14, Romans 12). Membership places one under the spiritual protection of godly leaders (Heb. 13:17, Acts 20:28-29). Membership also gives accountability to help aid Christian growth (Eph. 5:21). It helps in increasing the number of chaplains in the military. Lastly, membership is a step of spiritual growth and not an organizational ritual. |
